Express Review of Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia and Microsoft Partnership

Nokia and Microsoft

Nokia- the once market leader in smart phones now manufactures phones that no one is willing to buy. But all that is supposed to change with Nokia and Microsoft partnership. The First Nokia phones with Windows 8 were launched on 5th September and provide some really interesting innovations. But in spite of this, there is very little interest for these phones in the market. The Reason is lack of interest in Windows phone, Nokia not announcing the price, phone not featuring final version of Windows and The Pure view Debacle.

Quick Review of Nokia Lumia 920

Featuring the latest generation Qualcomm processor, Nokia Lumia 920 comes with 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, Wireless charging support and 2000 mAH battery.
Nokia Lumia 920 - Review

Nokia is calling its next-generation Lumia "the most innovative smartphone in the world". Every Company launching a new Smart phone Claims that. Is it the case?
  • Design: Nokia Lumia 920 has an almost identical physical design as the Lumia 900 featuring Polycarbonate body . It is available in three bright colors- Sunshine Yellow, Lipstick Red, and Slate Grey. Looks great but Nokia has done away with Matte finish in 900 and instead used Glossy Design. For me, this is a bad design choice.

  • Display: Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch glass featuirng Nokia PureMotion HD+ display, which features a WXGA resolution (1,280x768 pixels), which is a notch higher than standard HD.

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Lumia 920 will feature the same dual-core processor which is found on High end Phones today including S3 and HTC One X. It also features 1 GB Ram which is also fairly Standard.

  • Battery and wireless charging: It features a Standard Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery,
  • Stand-by Up to 400 h and 3G talk time up to 10 hours. But it incorporates a new features wireless charging. Nokia will offer its own charging plate, but design company Fatboy will sell a wireless charging pillow as well! Just drop your phone on any compatible plate, charger or Pillow and phone will be charged!

  • Camera: It isn't Lumia 808 with 38 Mega Pixels and Huge Sensor, but it does incorporate some features of Pure View Technology. Nokia stresses that PureView is its software processing, and isn't definitive of a sensor size. The Lumia 920 has an F/2.0 aperture with Carl Zeiss Optics and uses Optical image stabilization and tiny springs to capture those moving images. Nokia claims it use floating lens" image stabilization, which they calim can even beat the optical stabilization of DSLR cameras. That is Too much, i must say!

  • Nokia Additions: It features a Tap+Share over NFC and included City View - An Augmented Reality Software from Nokia. Features an Improved version of Nokia Maps as well. It also incorporates full version of Microsoft office and also 8 Gb storage on Cloud Sky drive.
It provides an augmented reality overlay view of buildings and instantly highlights places of interest.

      • Expandable Slots: Nokia Lumia 920 still does not have an expandable slot. The use of Expandable slot is highly debatable but the fact that Windows 8 phone now has that capability, Its flagship phone should have incorporated that.

Final Word- To Buy or not to Buy Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia 920 is a good phone from the outset, although it didn't really give you much to feel wowed by. It still has a lot of ground to cover, but it is indeed a step in the right direction! Buy or No Buy? I would say hold on for a bit! And don't Keep Nokia out  of your list of future phones. The Giant is all set to make a comeback.
