Safely publish your email address on web pages

By on Thursday, September 13, 2012

We All need to publish our e-mail ids on webpages from time to time. But whenever an email id is published on a page, Bots who are always looking for them, provide the information to 3rd party marketers. And you start getting those endless Spam mails,

However, there are many ways by which you can email addresses on web pages by which they are less likely to be harvested by Spamming Bots. I am Providing two common options here:

1st Option
Encrypt Your E-mail Address Link

You can convert your ascii email address into its equivalent decimal entity HERE

What will it do?
It will convert shaun@shaunak.com into
shaun@shaunak.com

You can then Post E-mail on websites as:

Send email to

<A HREF="mailto:
&#115;&#104;&#097;&#117;&#110;&#064;&#115;&#104;&#097;&#117;&#110;&#097;&#107;&#046;&#099;&#111;&#109;>

E-mail Link
</A>"

2nd Option

You can use Special email address typing patterns. This is quite simple to use and also effective as most bots are not designed for this.

Instead of typing youremail@domain.com
You can write it as youremail [at] domain.com
or youremail (at) domain.com.
or even better  youremail <at> domain.com.

We all hate receiving spam emails and in order to stop getting spam email you will have to make sure that you don't openly share your email address.
