Its Christmas and holidays and all of us want our Gifts to be delivered to our loved ones on time. After all there is no fun opening your gift from your grandma on 27th! Well, after reports came in of the delays in delivery by FedEx and UPS, inspite of Amazon's pledge, it seems Amazon is taking steps to woo its disgruntled customers.
Amazon said on Thursday that it would give pay shipping costs and give an additional $20 gift cards for customers affected by late delivery of their Christmas gift packages. The Amazon pledge came after UPS and FedEx came under heavy fire for late packages despite vows from retailers to meet a December 25 deadline. Some customers took to Twitter to voice their displeasure, likening one or both delivery giants to the "Grinch who stole Christmas." The companies say they expect most of the delayed packages to arrive Thursday. According to a story reported by CBS
Vickie Madsen had nothing under her Christmas tree in Wichita, Kansas after UPS didn't come through.
"I picked out Harry Potter stuff for my youngest," she says. "I was really excited and I couldn't wait to see her face and it didn't happen.
"So I was disappointed," she added, starting to cry.
Amazon pointed the finger squarely at the delivery companies. The online retail giant did not give estimates for the number of affected shoppers.
"Amazon fulfillment centers processed and tendered customer orders to delivery carriers on time for holiday delivery," said Amazon spokeswoman Mary Osako. "We are reviewing the performance of the delivery carriers."
